The artistic and tireless crowd of Cebu got a taste of the special screenings for Filipino indie films last November 27, Friday at the Marcelo Fernan Press Center. PLDT MyDSL Watchpad and Bigseed Media gave the us chance to meet and greet [insert generous adjectives of how brilliant they are] the directors and the crew of “Kinatay” (which won for Brillante the Best Director plum in the recent Cannes Film Festival) and “Engkwentro” (Best Director for the Venice Film Festival).

The common thread for all of these shows and among the rest of Cebu fashion that we have witnessed in 2009 is that Cebu will never stop surprising us with so many talented, artistic and creative people. With the right body type and the right attitude, you can never go wrong with a designer piece. On September 9 at VUDU, Wednesday, a bevy of beauties were entertained by a play-by-play ensemble of what fierce should look like - dark, menacing, imposing and intimidating. For April Escasinas, Jason Manatad and James Cañete, the designers who hosted the event, fierce was in the form of wires, black eyeshadow, and attitude. If there had been a lion — or an entire safari backdrop — it wouldn’t have been a surprise.

The movers and shakers of Cebu television all converged in our favorite nighspot. RCTV or Real Cebu Television launched their website last August 17, Friday. A private yet intimate party took place earlier at VUDU before DJ Scratchmark brought the house down. Pun intended.
