Check your hemlines, ladies!
It shouldn’t be too short, nor too long as the middle sister of minis and maxis is making a comeback. Mid-calf-length skirts from the 40s and 70sare this season’s top squeeze. Midi skirts are ultimately feminine and undeniably chic with a subtle hint of sexiness. And there’s a wide array of choices on how you’ll sport one – full, pencil, strait, sheer, pleated.

My sister and I, in our mandatory matching outfits and carbon-copied haircuts , used to click-clack around the house wearing mom’s high-heeled shoes pretending to be in-charge of the world and heavenly bodies. We would overmodest-ly chuckle, whisper about what we would pretend to be life-or-death dilemmas and whisper more about earth-shattering solutions. For a moment we were grown-ups having the time of our lives. And we owe it to our mom’s big-girl shoes. Today, I still find myself somewhat empowered by the pair I am wearing. I still wear …

If there is such a place as a rehab for people who are immensely addicted to sunglasses then I might as well change my address to where it is located. Any dearly concerned relative will whip me there in a piggyback ride as I imagine I will be highly sedated due to the denial that I am indeed obsessed. Then while inside the rehab I will be talking to my imaginary cohorts named Chanel half-tint and Tom Ford Farrah.
I’ve been collecting sunnies for quite awhile now. It started when I …

And the very much-awaited competition that unfurled Cebu’s teeming talents finally came to an extra fabulous end. The finalist of Cebu Young Designers Competition did not disappoint one bit and in fact, rendered an eye-popping, jaw-dropping finale. Each and every collection was awe-inspiring. Had I not known it would not be easy to believe that the pieces being paraded were designed by young designers, mostly teens!
To add more glitz, the event was graced by the who’s who of Cebu’s fashion scene. Even made more prestigious as Cebu governor Gwen Garcia …

Disclaimer: This post is mainly me ranting about my skin.
Disclaimer’s disclaimer: Happy ending.
My skin products cost an arm and a leg, and, no it is not by choice and also not because I am profoundly vain. I spend too much on skin products because I have to. You see, unfortunately, I have highly sensitive skin. I’ve had allergies since I was a kid and my visits to various dermatologists is at some point a routine already. My mom told me that I was allergic to almost anything and my poor …

By this time two years ago, my wedding coordinator was secretly wishing me lifeless or okay, maybe just motionless until June. I epitomized every facet of what a bridezilla is and should be. I ranted about every little mistake I noticed, or made an imaginary one when there is lack of it. From the cake, to the seating arrangement and even down to the weather, I yammered. However, the thought of my gown buttered me up. I can say that I was one of the lucky few who knew exactly …

Andre Chang. /əˌvɑntˈgɑrd, əˌvænt-, ˌæv ɑnt-, ˌɑ vɑnt-; Fr. a vɑ̃ˈgard/. n., 1. Designer/ Stylist/ Contributing Fashion Editor 2. Walking Art 3. Revolutionary of Philippine Fashion.
Drafting the idea of showcasing the Metro’s distingué and top-drawers of fashion, I immediately wrote Andre’s name in big, bold letters accompanied with a doodle of a stick figure (my drawing skills can be likened a toddler’s expertise in art) in Mohawks and combat boots. Where’s a better takeoff than at the tip-top? Andre have ducked the ordinary and have always been a parry from …

The presence of global brands in our fashion industry unquestionably poses a challenge to our striving local brands. However, I do not see this as any form of hitch or detriment to products produced domestically. Rather, it ought to be considered as a needed kick and push. It sets the stage, the globalization of trends, I believe, is a way of squeezing positive competitiveness. Leading to augmented quality, innovative strategies and a more strategic branding.
Case in point: Fish18
Loalde Group recently beefed up their apparel empire by launching a retail concept …

This will come as a surprise to my friends as I’ve always been enmeshed with everything cheesy, mushy and anything shamelessly schmaltzy (read: newlyweds). I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day. The day when every (okay, most) of the girls’ self worth is intertwined with the flowers and chocolates they are getting. And yes, they carry it all day, darlings. The girl with the biggest bouquet walk the tallest, as if she just earned her college degree, aided a dog in giving birth to her puppies or learned how …

I can still remember our first trip to the island, I came from school, whisked myself to NAIA and hopped on a plane for the last flight to Cebu, landed in Mactan, checked my watch and did not mind that I’ll only have a few hours of sleep, 2 hours to be exact. I also have the habit of over-packing so I still have to allot a little time to unpack and pack anew with the help of then boyfriend, now husband. Also a little more time in the bathroom …
