This Satuday, October 31, 2009, VUDU, Cebu’s definitive nightstyle institution, is set to cast its spell on the city’s nightscape as this year’s much-awaited 8^th Annual Halloween Costume Ball presents the VMMAs: VUDU’s Music and Movie Awards.

Held annually, this institutional event is bigger- featuring an extended al fresco seating to accommodate the throng of revelers on All Hallow’s Eve- and better with fangtastic prizes awaiting the VMMAs’ stars of the night. At stake are vacation packages at Shangri-La ‘s Mactan Resort & Spa, the Tides Boracay, Islands Banca Cruises and the piece de resitance, a roundtrip ticket to Singapore via SilkAir. Judging starts at 9 p.m. and awarding will be at the stroke of midnight.

About Bombi Balquiedra:
With more than 10 years of experience as a DJ, Bombi Balquiedra has held legendary residencies in prestigious establishments such as Mars, ABGs, Zu, Republic of Malate, Le Taxi, C2, Embassy Cuisine and also plays regularly at the Philippines’ number one club, Embassy. He belongs to the elite circle of renowned DJs and pioneers of house in the country known as the Natural Born Klubbers (NBK).  He is known for his unique brand of house music with trademark mixes of vocal, upfront and uplifting house sets. 

About CHICO Cristobal:
In this generation of Rockeoke and Rock Band, the label “rockstar” has never been used more loosely. It seems anyone brave enough to swagger up on stage and belt out a few lines of Stairway to Heaven can earn himself the privileged title. Needless to say, this isn’t the case for resurrected guitar sensation Chico Cristobal. Having started out in ‘93 with a band called Bonehead, Chico has made the rounds performing in high school gyms and auditoriums until making it to the airwaves via rock station LA 105.9. The band however was short-lived as he and his bandmates broke up in ’96, right after recording what could have been the ticket to Bonehead’s fame. The disbanding of Bonehead seemingly marked the end of Chico’s career in the music industry. Or so he thought.
 
In June of 2009, after a thirteen-year hiatus from the music scene, Chico decided to give his dream one more shot. This time, he brings to the table a reinvented style, fusing together two of his favorite genres, rock and house. With the help of household names and friends in the Manila Club scene DJ Manolet Dario and DJ Bombi Balquiedra, and party promoter Ivan Zalameda, Chico and his guitar have been making guest appearances in Manila’s hottest clubs, quickly gaining a following amongst the city’s hip and young night owls. When asked to compare his experience back in high school to his club gigs today, Chico says, “When I’m playing in front of a crowd and realize all these people are dancing to my music, I get a natural high. The energy is unbelievable. It’s an amazing feeling.”
