Flip-flops Cautionary Tale

25 August 2009 840 views 6 Comments

After taking weeks to get over our Make Your Own Havaianas hangover, I realized that a switch from your usual preference of Havaianas High to Havaianas flats actually bear discomfort and the heels of our feet usually take the toll of such switch. See, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe who claimed that she NEVER has a pair of flats is my long lost twin or how else can you explain the resemblance of our flats-free closet, huh?

Sad to say but, yes, it is more painful to wear flats than heels. According to Foot Care Basics: Preventing and Treating Common Foot Conditions, “a special health report from Harvard Medical School”, women who start wearing flats after heels may develop the Achilles tendinitis which runs up to the back of the heel and becomes inflamed. To alleviate discomfort from switching your Maddens to a Havaianas pair of flats, one must attempt to do repeated stress of foot muscles such as stretching calves and arches. See, that wasn’t so bad right? You can still wear your favorite flats AND stay healthy at the same time.
