StyleCebu Go See | Edward Castro on strips and bandage dresses

1 June 2009 542 views 8 Comments

For the risk of sounding trite, the third installment of last week’s Glitz party at the Gustavian Wine Lounge, Ayala Center Cebu opened more avenues for Cebu designers to exhibit exemplary talent found in Cebu. Even thought there is no real science to draw a crowd but there definitely was chemistry last Friday. Edward Castro did a Herve Leger and came up with his own bandage dress version with strips that flatter any shape.

Circa Model Berniece Montilla from Ryan Luyao’s photo above models an Edward Castro bandage dress in blue, grey and black. Her bangles are from cebu jewelry export Pan Arts accessories.

“The dresses have some satellite pieces,” Edward explained of the strips all over this Circa model’s arm and dress as shown at photo above. “Juxtaposing the strips properly is crucial.” If you do seem to get it right, you will achieve the overall effect. I asked Edward how will one know which strip goes with which. He says, “You don’t. Hahaha. But it just comes naturally. My hands go wild and they seem to know which strip goes where.” How does he make it look so easy? “With a lot of patience…. and help from Harvey.” Aww. Isn’t that sweet!

Cebu fashion designer Edward Castro also played with colorful embellishments on basic greys and blacks. They are on top of my one-of-the-hot-ways-to-accessorize list. Sans the jewelry, embellishments add flavor and spunk to an Edward Castro outfit. This “hard candy” collection, as Edward calls it, gives a slice of edge to the fun-loving fashionista.

It was definitely an H&E moment as Harvey Cenit also introduced his newest collection that same night. Harvey on the other hand is a different story altogether for he will be the featured Cebu fashion designer tonight at the Loft Penthouse Fashion Series. Keep posted, Cebu! ♥

Hi Carms! Thanks for the correction. I kept mistaking her for Tara! :)
Hi Bettina, Bettino. Actually, yes, I was referring to Herve Leger’s bandage dress and no, its not bandage but bondage. However, Edward would like to call it such to be politically correct. Thank you for the insight, though. :)

It sounded new but kind of looked average when sewn. But have to give credit for the styles.
