NEW BEGINNINGS at the Marco Polo Hotel
It is just right and grand to hold Cebu’s annual wedding fair that is anticipated by everyone every summer in Marco Polo Hotel. Chalk it up to the months before THE wedding month of June, this year’s bridal fete was a two day love affair of Cebu designers and the upcoming brides in 2009 last weekend at the Marco Polo Hotel.
When Cebu’s best ateliers, maquillage gurus or wedding resources are up for scrutiny to the public eye, I can imagine why the five-star hotel was full of consumers and anticipation of what they have in store this year. See below Cebu designers’ latest.
Billy Sy in Oj Hofer
Blinky de Leon in Alberto Arriba
Fern Medequillo in Cary Santiago
Giebeth in Arcy Gayatin
My personal favorite: Sal Malto on Steph Señires
MAC and AD Models
Bigwigs like Jesse Glova, PartySpice event planners and Cebu wedding photographers set up shop at the hotel plus caterers, Joyful Weddings seminars and jewelry designers. This is Marco Polo Plaza’s third Bridal Fair in Cebu and this wedding affair is titled New Beginnings.
As much as I would like to ogle at the bridal gowns that AD and MAC models paraded last Sunday, I cannot help but express my overwhelm at the influence of Fashion Design Council of Cebu’s influence to Cebu fashion. Despite Philip Rodriguez’s brush with the media malfeasance from that Miss Cebu hoopla, the council still thrives and flourishes every year.
From l-r: Phil Rodriguez, Philip Tampus, Cary Santiago and Arcy Gayatin
Having an annual bridal fair doesn’t just help keep businesses that cater to Cebu weddings increase their market but it gives us a refreshing look of the latest trends in planning and styling one’s wedding according to his or her budget.
The Fashion Council of Cebu is composed of Jun Escario, Albert Arriba, Arcy Gayatin, Felix Yu, Oj Hofer, Sal Malto, Philip Tampus, and Philip Rodriguez. New Beginnings is directed by Junjet Primor. Thank you Paolo for the photos.

i just want to express my disdain on how the Rodriguez family especially their matriarch, yes the mother of Fashion Council of Cebu President Philip Rodriguez treat people. This family is corrupt and i’m sorry to say evil. They portray themselves as decent in high society but you people should see how they treat ordinary people even their own tenants in their sad to say dilapidated buildings. and we hail him as cebu fashion council president?! hilarious!
